A stay at Lucknam Park is all about history. The hotel is an 18th century Palladian mansion set amidst 500 acres of manicured gardens and unspoilt parkland. Local historians suggest that the area was a Saxton settlement dating from before the Norman invasion in 1066. From as far back as 1199 to 1688 there was a farmhouse on the current site, and the land was farmed for five centuries until the site was sold to Lucknam Park Hotels in 1987, and later sold again to a single owner in 1994.
The equestrian centre and fine mounts add special style to this country house setting and echo of bygone days when gentlemen and ladies rode across their estates. The centre caters for all levels of horse riding, from children and beginners on ponies to advanced riders aboard hunter jumpers. A full size all weather riding arena allows for instruction in dressage, show jumping, and a lunge area for individual lessons. More advanced horse riders can enjoy escorted hacks around the estate or longer rides through the beautiful English countryside. For the keen eventer or cross country enthusiast, the Lucknam Equestrian Centre has a cross country course; the jumps wind their way round the estate offering both challenging jumps and smaller ones for novices.

In his quest for perfection, Executive Chef Hywel Jones uses only the finest locally sourced fresh ingredients to ensure the fullest flavours comes through in his cuisine. And his Afternoon Tea is not to be missed! Served either within the restaurant or in nice weather on the outdoor terrace, no English country escape is complete without High Tea.
